Latifah has enjoyed similar success in television and film.
Actors Guild predictions
PMA12:53
Academy Award and Golden Globe predictions for a substantial portion of the
year now, but there are of course other awards and/or precursors worth mentioning. Over the rest of the season, I’ll be trying to figure those out too, with today marking the starting point
as I attempt to decode what the Screen Actors Guild might do. SAG is one of the most important precursors, mainly because it shows off what the acting branch of the Academy might be thinking. This year, with such a wide open race in almost all categories, you have to imagine that SAG will be one of the biggest guild announcements of the year. Below you’ll see my predictions in all of the SAG categories, but keep in mind that it’s early and they’re completely subject to change. For example, I’ve hung back on some films like Selma while going out on a few limbs that make more sense now than they likely will during crunch time. In any event…here you go: Best Actor is so packed this year, whomever is snubbed in this category could find their chances crippled. Last year, SAG went three out of five (nominating Bruce Dern, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tom Hanks, Matthew McConaughey, and Forest Whitaker…Hanks and Whitaker were swapped out for Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio in Oscar’s lineup), so they clearly help. McConaughey won here on his road to the Academy Award win, so that’s worth noting as well. At this point, it’s wide open… Bradley Cooper – American Sniper Benedict Cumberbatch – The Imitation Game Michael Keaton – Birdman Joaquin Phoenix – Inherent Vice Eddie Redmayne – The Theory of Everything Prediction: Michael Keaton With Best Actress, we’re going to have to look to see which direction voters go, though last year won’t provide any help. Last time around SAG went four out of five with Oscar (only having to sub out Emma Thompson for Amy Adams, as Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Judi Dench, and Meryl Streep all made the cut), so I’d expect a close relationship between the two awards. Still, it’s going to be hard for them to resist the veteran here. Felicity Jones – The Theory of Everything Julianne Moore – Still Alice Rosamund Pike – Gone Girl Reese Witherspoon – Wild Shailene Woodley – The Fault in Our Stars Prediction: Julianne Moore Best Supporting Actor is a slam dunk this year, so unless SAG pulls a shocker, we know who’s winning. Much like last year

Maybe Hollywood has lots to offer talented
PMA12:50
The first thing we see in the movie is Murray, in close-up, smoking
a cigarette and telling an unfunny joke. after taking a few minutes to establish the
title character as a physical, moral and financial wreck, the movie introduces
Vincent's nice new neighbors. The neighbors are a divorced mom Melissa McCarthy, looking worried, confused and slack-jawed and her son Oliver, played by Jaeden Lieberher,
who is the least mannered actor in the movie.
Throughout, writer-director Theodore Melfi keeps steering the plot in the direction of crisis and harshness, but then keeps veering away to resolve things unconvincingly.
Maybe Watts really wanted to talk in a thick Russian accent, wear ugly clothes and have sex with an old guy. Maybe Hollywood has lots to offer talented, middle-aged actresses, and they only choose roles like this because they like them.

At Kuu- Japanese gets local, seasonal touch-the raspy green stems

what caught me short was the actual wildness in some of the raspy green stems,
a welcome textural shock; and the subtle, briny intensity of the dehydrated scallop chips
that rose above the greens like ragged sails. At the end, when no scrap of green or yellow remained,
I lifted the broad bowl and drank all the gentle rice-vinegared cucumber juice that
had served as the simplest of dressings. An exclamation point of tart sorrel leaf here
and a period of deeply roasted, peppery cauliflower there gave structure to the sentence,
which said: "Here's your autumn umami via Japan, by way of the Gulf Coast."
A cushy bar and lounge area leads into a long sushi counter, backed by a dining room with both table and booth seating. Narrow horizontal bands of faux fire pick up the reds in other parts of the room, and tiny overhead spots let diners see the food in all its vivid glory, which is good. (An Egelhoff Napa riesling and Habit sauvignon blanc from Santa Barbara, Calif., were both happy by-the-glass choices.) Even the Asian-themed cocktails are effectively done, with good balance and flavors including lemongrass or ginger that actually make sense in context and complement the food. Cautious diners can use the place as an upscale sushi spot because the last two pages of the four-page menu list all the nigiri sushi and

The nigiri are very good, with a beautiful drape and proportion, although occasionally a tiny overdose of wasabi will jar the .
Kuu is best approached on an informal tasting-menu basis, by putting together a few bites of ultra-fresh nigiri or sashimi flown in from Japan's Tsukiji Market to start, then going on to one of the cold composed dishes and one of the hot dishes - each of which can serve one focused diner or two dabblers who want to share. Meizu MX4 Pro-YunOS boot screen
PMA09:11
The Meizu MX4 Pro will likely have to wait until November to make
its public debut, but that doesn't mean it will be keeping away from
the spotlight until then. We got yet another leak, showing the upcoming
flagship in its two color versions - black and white.
The Meizu MX4 Pro front panel, which will feature a centrally placed
hardware key underneath the display. That's a break of tradition by
the Chinese company, which has used capacitive touch buttons in its
previous flagships, including the MX4. The reason for the switch is the
presence of a fingerprint scanner, which will allegedly be embedded in
the home key. Meizu MX4 Pro No other specs were confirmed by this
leak, but we've previously heard that the MX4 Pro will come with a 5.36"
QHD display, Exynos 5 Octa SoC, 20.7MP camera, and Android 4.4
dressed in Flyme OS user interface. A YunOS-powered version also
surfaced a few days ago, but even if that actually exists it will likely never
leave the borders of China.

Townsend's success has also been helpful in silencing the critics
PMA09:39
Townsend's success has also been helpful in silencing the critics. She splits her training time between Chicago, where she began playing and first met Murray at the age of 6, and Washington, D.C., where she trains with former Wimbledon runner-up Zina Garrison.
Ranked number one in the world in the junior division in 2012, Townsend burst onto the Grand Slam scene this year, reaching the third round in the French Open and also earning wild-card berths to participate in both Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, where she lost to Serena Williams, the tournament's eventual winner, in the first round last month.
Another statistics also serve to quiet the critics: a total of 22 XS Tennis players have earned full-ride college scholarships and the organization's free in-school tennis programs serves 2,000 CPS students annually.
Murray compared the impact of his pupil's success to that of the Jackie Robinson West youth baseball team, who earlier this year won the U.S. championship at the Little League World Series. Given his program's growth, he hopes other minority tennis clubs across the country will duplicate the model he's created and spread additional access to the sport to black neighborhoods.
"Taylor is a living, breathing example of what is possible if you have access," he said. "And she should not be the last kid to make it out of the city of Chicago [in tennis]."
Besides easing the worries of potential investors, Townsend's rise has also had a major impact on the other young players training at the center.

Roger Goodell Admits NFL-Recent Failures
PMA09:36
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell admits that the league's recent failures start with him, but has no plans on resigning. In his first public appearance in more than a week, Goodell vowed to improve the NFL's personal conduct policy as it relates to domestic violence and win back the credibility that the league has lost.
"Unfortunately, over the past several weeks, we have seen all too much of the NFL doing wrong," Goodell said on Friday. "That starts with me."
With the NFL facing perhaps its most public crisis ever, Goodell had remained conspicuously absent until addressing the media in New York City on Friday. At the start of his prepared remarks, he again admitted that the NFL mishandled the domestic violence case involving former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice.
"I got it wrong in the handling of the Ray Rice matter, and I'm sorry for that," Goodell told reporters. "But now I will get it right."
The NFL's mishandling of Rice's domestic violence case as well as its inaction in cases involving Greg Hardy of the Carolina Panthers and Ray McDonald of the San Francisco 49ers has drawn widespread criticism in recent weeks. The scrutiny increased after Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was indicted in a child abuse case. As the Vikings stumbled in their attempts to discipline Peterson, the 2012 NFL MVP, throughout the week, Goodell remained silent on the matter.
"We strongly, strongly condemn and will punish behavior that is totally unacceptable: Domestic violence, including child abuse, sexual assault, irresponsible ownership or handling of fire arms, the illegal use of alcohol or drugs. These activities must be condemned and stopped through education and discipline," Goodell said on Friday. "Our standards and the consequences of falling short must be clear, consistent and current. They must be implemented through procedures that are fair and transparent."
Acknowledging the league's failure to adequately deal with these issues, Goodell announced that changes will be made to the NFL's personal conduct policy, including the implementation of a set of transparent rules for teams and the league to follow. Goodell hopes to have these new personal conduct policies in place by the Super Bowl and will meet with NFL Players Association chief DeMaurice Smith next week on the topic. He intends to establish a "conduct committee" to develop procedures for conduct problems.
"Nothing is off the table," Goodell said, indicating that his role in player discipline may be limited or altered going forward.

Jolla's Smartphone Announced Android
Jolla will officially begin selling its Sailfish OS smartphone in Indiain four days, on September 23. The Finnish company delivered
the news on its official Facebook page. As initially announced,
Jolla's first handset will be offered on the vast market through a
partnership with the online retailer Snapdeal. The latter will be
the exclusive retailer for the Jolla smartphone in India.
Considering the recently announced Android One family
of smartphones, as well as the second generation Moto G,
we reckon that pricing will be key factor for any success Jolla
can possibly achieve in India. Here's hoping that the aging yet
characterful device won't be stuck between the increasingly
more capable entry-level Android devices and the high-end
smartphone establishment.
