Microsoft has announced yet another affordable smartphone

Microsoft has announced yet another affordable smartphone
for the IMEA, Italy, and APAC regions at sub $150 price
point before subsidies. The new Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM
will arrive next month and will offer lower midrange specs.

Worthy successor of the Lumia 530, the Lumia 540 Dual
SIM features the Smart Dual SIM feature to let you
create unique profiles for each SIM and also stay
connected with call-forwarding. The handset is powered
by Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update out
of the box and it will be upgradable to the Windows 10
when that comes. Lumia 540 flaunts a 5" 720p display
and is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm
Snapdragon 200 mobile chipset armed with 1GB of RAM.

Onboard storage is the modest 8GB, but there's a microSD
card slot for expanding that. Of course you also get gets
15GB OneDrive cloud storage by default and additional 15GB
storage if auto-upload to OneDrive is activated. Measuring 9.35mm
thick and tipping the scales at 152g, the Lumia 540 has 8MP
rear snapper with LED flash and autofocus.

Lenovo new A6000 Plus is a 5-incher

Lenovo new A6000 Plus is a 5-incher

Lenovo is working on keeping its midrange up-to-date
and has now announced in India the new A6000 Plus
model. As the name suggests, it's not an entirely new
device, but an improved version of the already existing
A6000. What the Plus moniker brings to the table is
increased operating memory - 2GB over the standard
model's single gig, and 16GB of built-in storage as
opposed to the previous 8GB. The upgrade will be
easily felt in both areas with more relaxed space for app
installation and multimedia storage as well as improved
multitasking experience. Other than that the A6000 Plus
is very much the same phone, built around a 5-inch display
 of 720p resolution.

The mainstream Snapdragon 410 provides computing
power, with its quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz.
The dual-SIM device supports Cat.4 LTE for up to
150Mbps download speeds. A 2,300mAh battery is
fitted in the 141 x 70 x 8.2 mm body, weighing 128g.
An 8MP/2MP camera combo is on board for capturing
memories, and the phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat out
of the box. The Lenovo A6000 Plus will command a minor
premium over the non-Plus model but no exact numbers
 have been quoted.

Red Alert In Naxal-Hit Odisha

Red Alert In Naxal-Hit Odisha

In the wake of a series of Naxal attacks on security-men in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, a high alert was today sounded in Maoist-hit districts of Odisha, particularly in the southern region.

Police personnel have been put on alert in Maoist-affected districts, particularly in areas bordering Chhattisgarh, Director General of Police (DGP), Sanjeev Marik said.

While security forces have been alerted after the Chhattisgarh incidents, Superintendents of Police in Maoist-hit districts have been asked to keep a close watch on movements of suspicious persons, he said.

Police apprehend that the left-wing ultras might cross over to Odisha's Maoist-hit areas following intensified search operation in the neighboring state after violence in last three days in Sukma, Dantewada and Kanker districts.

The SPs of all Naxal-hit districts are in a state of high alert in view of possibility of cross-border movement of Maoists from Chhattisgarh, Inspector General of Police (South West), Y K Jethwa said.

While the emphasis is on strict adherence to standard operating procedure (SOP), intelligence network has also been strengthened, he said

CPI (Maoist) cadre from Chhattisgarh were trying their best to strengthen the organisation in border areas of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh and Rayagada after the arrest of Sabyasachi Panda, founder leader of Odisha Maobadi Party (OMP) on July 17, last year, police suspected.

"Combing operation has been intensified in Kandhamal district following the incidents in Chhattisgarh. We have also asked our personnel to maintain strict vigil on the movement of suspicious people in vulnerable areas," said SP (Kandhamal) KV Singh.

"Search was conducted in the long-route vehicles passing through the district, while anti-Maoist operation intensified," added SP (Gajapati) S.Nayak. He, however, ruled out engaging more forces in the anti-Maoist operation.

HTC One M9+ that was revealed very recently.

sensor on the front, and 20 megapixel rear camera
with Duo Camera feature. It also runs on the new
64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 processor with an

Dell Venue 10 7000

The iPad made waves in the business world years ago, its rivals have spent countless hours and dollars on sprucing up their slates to make them worthy of companies' BYOD, or Bring Your Own Device, plans. Dell is one of those companies meeting Apple on the frontlines, and it's latest weapon is its sharpest tablet yet: the Dell Venue 10 7000.

Upon first glance at this 10.5-inch Android slate, I had to ask the representative showing it off: what's up with the name? (Especially given the recently released Venue 8 7000.) I was told that the "7000" in the name denotes Dell's most premium, cutting edge line of products. (Note the "7140" in the name of Dell's Venue 11 Pro.)

Whether its a laptop or a tablet, the "7000" series of business-focused devices is where Dell tries out the latest technologies and designs. If they prove successful, those features will trickle down into the company's "5000" and "3000" lines. The name is still goofy, but at least we know what it means.

Permeating through everything about this device – from its design to the features and software – is Dell's desire to, well, sex up work life. For instance, the company has brought Intel's RealSense 3D depth cameras to the Venue 10 7000.

As we've noted before, the technology is cool, but it's use cases are rather niche at the moment. The Dell representative showing off the device offered an anecdote about a grocery store owner using the RealSense cameras to measure out end caps. Super cool, but I'm sure most grocery stores have a tape measure handy, too.

Another example is the choice of Android as the operating system – one that people don't immediately associate with productivity. In 5.0 Lollipop, Android for Work launched, which Dell uses here in the Venue 10 7000 to a great extent. Essentially, the technology allows for IT departments to manage app access and use on Android devices on their network and create custom app stores for their teams.
